Johnnie Kamugisha - Lead guide ABOUT BIRDING IN PARADISE SAFARIS LTD We are both a tour operator and film production co-ordinating company based in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. We are delighted to be at the forefront of the regeneration of Uganda as a prime tourist destination. Uganda is a beautiful country with an unrivalled variety of natural wonders for visitors to enjoy. As many people are probably aware, for sometime political instability brought down the once thriving tourist trade in Uganda. Due to the years of isolation, you will discover that Uganda is totally unspoiled by mass tourism. Here it is really possible to escape the crowds - even other tourists are few and far between. Indeed, nowhere else on the continent can you find a land of such dramatic beauty with such a variety of terrain, from the tropical splendour of central Uganda to the dry Savannah of the west; from the intensively cultivated and densely populated Southwest to the National parks where you can travel all day without seeing any another person. Uganda is famous for its lakes and rivers – it is from here that the world's longest river, the Nile, starts its three months journey from Lake Victoria to the Mediterranean Sea, dividing the country with a broad silver swathe. The Nile empties into lakes and cascades over a dramatic 35-meter (110 feet) drop at Murchison Falls, one of the most beautiful sights in the whole of Africa. Uganda is also home to the fabled "Mountains of the moon" – the very same is synonymous with mystery and romance, connected somehow with every legend about what secrets lie hidden deep in the heart of Africa. Is this, perhaps, as one-legend claims, where the garden of Paradise can be found? |
