Itinerary

Day 01 :
Arrival

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport, meet & greet by your driver/guide, and proceed to the accommodation, which is 15 minutes away. 

Dinner and Overnight at Jet Villas (Bed & Breakfast)

Day 02 :
Drive to Chobe

After breakfast, start the drive to Chobe Safari Lodge in Murchison Falls National Park, getting there in time for lunch. After lunch, start exploring the area as per your wish, coming back in time for a shower and dinner.

Day 03 :
Explore the Chobe area

After breakfast, start exploring the Chobe area, coming back in time for lunch. In the afternoon, head out for another exploration. Look out for a variety of bird life and mammals. Look out for birds like Heuglin’s Francolin, Red-throated Bee-eater, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Vinaceous Dove, Black-billed Wood Dove, Eastern Plantain Eater, Piapiac, White-shouldered Tit, Shelley’s Sparrow, Chestnut-crowned Sparrow Weaver, Northern Red Bishop, Black-rumped Waxbill and more.

Day 04 :
Bird to Masindi, Lunch then Bird to Budongo

After breakfast, start birding your way to Masindi, looking out for birds like Storks, Raptors, Piapiac, Eastern Plantain Eater, Whistling Cisticolas, Lesser blue-eared Starlings, Weavers, Sunbirds, Finches, among others. 

We will get to Masindi Hotel in time for lunch there, after head to Budongo to look for some birds like Yellow-throated Tinkerbird, Blue Malkoha, Western Nicator, Plain Greenbul, Honeyguide Greenbul, Spotted Greenbul, Yellow-throated Greenbul, White-throated Greenbul, Red-tailed Greenbul, Scaly-breasted Illadopsis, Brown Illadopsis, Fraser’s Rufous Thrush, Fire-crested Alethe, Forest Robin, Brown-backed Scrub Robin, Sabine’s Spinetail, Cassin’s Spinetail, Lemon-bellied Crombec, Green Crombec, Green Hylia, Rufus-crowned Eremomela, Whistling Cisticola, Black-capped Apalis, Yellow-browed Camaroptera.

Day 05 :
All day Birding in Budongo Forest

Today we bird in Budongo again to fill in the gaps and look out for more birds.

After breakfast with our packed lunch, we head to bird the Royal Mile looking for birds like White-thighed Hornbill, Blue-breasted Kingfisher, Chocolate-backed Kingfisher, Pygmy Kingfisher, Dwarf Kingfisher, Black-&-White Shrike Flycatcher, Red-bellied Paradise Flycatcher, Chestnut-capped Flycatcher, Chestnut Wattle-eye, Jameson's Wattle-eye, Grey Longbill, Yellow Longbill, Grey-headed Sunbird, Little-green Sunbird, Grey-chinned Sunbird, Blue-throated Brown Sunbird, Purple-headed Starling, Bronze-tailed Starling, Splendid Starling, Compact Weaver, Crested Malimbe, White-breasted Nigrita, Black-bellied Firefinch, Black-rumped Waxbill, Black Bishop, among others.

Day 06 :
Bird to Fort Portal

After breakfast, start your drive as you bird westwards, getting to Fort Portal in time for lunch.

After lunch, bird your way to accommodation, getting there in good time to bird the gardens. Look out for birds like Banded Snake Eagle, Red-chested Cuckoo, Great blue Turaco, Lizard Buzzard, Black-and-white-casqued Hornbill, Double-toothed Barbet, Cardinal Woodpecker, African Blue flycatcher, Grey-capped Warbler, Lesser striped Swallow. White-headed Saw-wing, White-browed Robin Chat, Masked Apalis, Stonechat, lots of Sunbirds, Weavers, Pin-tailed Whydah, among other birds.

Day 07 :
Bird Kibale National Park (Kanyanchu)

After breakfast, proceed to bird Kibale forest looking out for the Green-breasted Pitta and other species like Crowned Eagle, Black Bee-eater, Blue-throated Roller, Grey Parrot, African Pied Hornbill, Speckled Tinkerbird, Yellow-throated Tinkerbird, Velvet-mantled Drongo, Sooty Flycatcher, Red-bellied Paradise Flycatcher, African Shrike Flycatcher, Black-&-White Shrike Flycatcher, Western Nicator, Plain Greenbul, Honeyguide Greenbul, Yellow-throated Leaflove, White-throated Greenbul, Red-tailed Greenbul, Green Hylia, Scaly-breasted Illadopsis, Blue Malkoha, Dusky long-tailed Cuckoo, Black-billed Turaco, Sabine’s Spinetail, Fraser’s Rufous Thrush, Fire-crested Alethe, Grey-throated Tit Flycatcher, Cassin’s Flycatcher, Chestnut Wattle eye, Seimundi Sunbird, Grey-chinned Sunbird, Superb Sunbird, Purple-headed Starling, Splendid Starling, Narrow-tailed Staring, Black Bishop, White-breasted Nigrita, Grey-headed Nigrita, Western Citril, among others. 

This being the primate capital of Africa, expect to see primates like Red Colobus Monkeys, Gray-cheeked mangabeys, Blue monkeys, Red-tailed Monkeys, to mention but a few.

Day 08 :
Whole day birding in Semliki

After a very early breakfast, drive to Kirumia trailhead for a whole day of birding in the forest. Look out for species like Hartlaub’s Duck, Grey-throated Rail, White-bellied Kingfisher, African Pied Hornbill, White thighed Hornbill, Black-casqued wattled Hornbill, Piping Hornbill, White crested Hornbill, Red-billed dwarf Hornbill, Black Dwarf Hornbill, Buff-spotted Woodpecker, Speckled-breasted Woodpecker, Blue-breasted Kingfisher, African Dwarf Kingfisher, Western Bronze-naped Pigeon, Yellow-throated Cuckoo, Dusky long-tailed Cuckoo, Blue Malkoha, Blue-throated Roller, Speckled Tinkerbird, Red-rumped Tinkerbird, Yellow-throated Tinkerbird, Rufous-sided Broadbill, Blue-headed crested Flycatcher, Red-bellied Paradise Flycatcher, Fraser’s Rufous Thrush, Fire-crested Alethe, Western Nicator, Yellow-throated Nicator, Plain Greenbul, Honeyguide Greenbul, Yellow-throated Leaflove, Swamp Palm Bulbul, Xavier’s Greenbul, White-throated Greenbul, Red-tailed Greenbul, Scaly-breasted Illadopsis, Brown Illadopsis, Grey-throated Tit-flycatcher, African Shrike Flycatcher, Black-&-White Shrike Flycatcher, Chestnut Wattle-eye, Jameson’s Wattle-eye, Green Crombec, Green Hylia, Grey-headed Sunbird, Seimundi Sunbird, Maxwell’s Black Weaver, Crested Malimbe, White-breasted Nigrita, Chestnut-breasted Nigrita, Black-bellied Seedcracker, Grant’s Bluebill, Orange-cheeked Waxbill, and you open your eyes wide, as you may be chanced with an African Piculet among others.

Start ascending back to Fort Portal, getting there in time for a warm shower and dinner.

Day 09 :
Bird as you transfer to Bwindi

After breakfast, bird your way to Bwindi. Look out for species like Francolins, Raptors, Vultures, Pearl-spotted Owlet, Blue Malkoha, Cassin’s Flycatcher, Red-bellied Paradise Flycatcher, Brown-backed Scrub Robin, White-winged Tit, Green Crombec, Trilling Cisticola, Moustached Grass Warbler, Stout Cisticola, Carruthers Cisticola, Orange-breasted Bushshrike, Common Scimitarbill, Green Wood-hoopoe, Black-headed Gonolek, Splendid Starling, Compact Weaver and many more.

Day 10 :
Bird Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bird as you transfer to Ruhija

Bird Mubwindi Swamp

After breakfast, walk down to the Mubwindi Swamp looking out for species like the Bar-tailed Trogon, African Green  Broadbill, Speckled Tinkerbird, Yellow-throated Tinkerbird, Western Green Tinkerbird, Black-billed Turaco, Dwarf Honeyguide, Tullberg’s Woodpecker, Olive Woodpecker, Elliot’s Woodpecker, Archer’s Robin Chat, White-starred Robin, Rwenzori Hill Babbler, Banded Prinia, Dusky Blue Flycatcher, Sooty flycatcher, Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, African Shrike Flycatcher, White-tailed Blue Flycatcher, Rwenzori Batis, Chestnut Wattle-eye, Eastern Mountain Greenbul, White-browed Crombec, Green Hylia, Strip-breasted Tit, Mountain Illadopsis, Fraser’s Rufous Thrush, Grey-throated Tit Flycatcher, Mountain Yellow Warbler, Grauer’s Rush Warbler, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Grauer’s Warbler, Black-faced Apalis, Rwenzori Apalis, White-headed Wood-hoopoe, Doherty’s Bushshrike, Purple-headed Starling, Slender-billed Starling, Waller’s Starling, Narrow-tailed Starling, Regal Sunbird, Blue-headed Sunbird, Strange Weaver, White-breasted Nigrita, Dusky Crimsonwing, Kandt’s Waxbill, Certainly one of the highlights of any birding trips in Uganda, this walk is physically challenging, but taken slowly it is quite manageable.

Day 13 :
Bird to Lake Mburo

After breakfast with your packed lunch, bird your way to Lake Mburo National Park looking out for birds like Grey Crowned Crane, Senegal Lapwing, Wattled Lapwing, Bare-faced Go-away-Bird, Grey Hornbill, Handsome Francolin, Western Green Tinkerbird, Archer’s Robin Chat, Rwenzori Hill Babbler, Red-faced Barbet, Crested Barbet, Black-collared Barbet, Double-toothed Barbet, White-headed Barbet, Black-lored Babbler, White-headed Saw-wing, Nubian Woodpecker, Brown-backed Scrub Robin, Green Woodhoopoe, Yellow-breasted Apalis,  Rwenzori Batis, Eastern Mountain Greenbul, Mountain Yellow Warbler, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Grauer’s Warbler, Black-faced  Apalis, Rwenzori Apalis, Diederik Cuckoo, Klaas's Cuckoo, Blue-napped Mousebird, Chubb’s Cisticola, Trilling Cisticola, Long-tailed Cisticola, Short-winged Cisticola, Sulphur-breasted Bush-Shrike, Slate-colored Boubou,  Regal Sunbird, Blue-headed Sunbird, Strange Weaver, White-breasted Nigrita, Dusky Crimsonwing, Kandt’s Waxbill, Western Citril, among others.

Look out for mammals, like the gorgeous Eland, Rothschild Giraffe, Boehm’s Zebra, Impala, Buffalo, Topi, Waterbuck, Nile Bushbuck, Hippos, and others. This afternoon will likely be our best chance for the Finfoot boat trip (starting at about 4:00 PM). This will be one of the highlights of afternoon birding.

Day 14 :
Bird your way back to Entebbe

Birding in the Lake Mburo area, coming back in time for an early lunch. After lunch, start the drive to Entebbe, getting there in time for your night flight. Look out for birds like, Red-faced Barbet, Crested Barbet, Black-collared Barbet, Double-toothed Barbet, White-headed Barbet, Black-lored Babbler, Red-headed Lovebird, Striped Pipit, Golden-breasted Bunting, Copper Sunbird, Tropical Boubou, Black-lored Babbler, Green-winged Pytlia, among others.

Day 15 :
Departure

Transfer to the airport in time for your departure flight back home.
